A women's perspective on staying at Springwood Cottages.

There aren't many things in life I can think of that we can all agree on as a family and were to go for out holidays. was not one of them. Finding somewhere to take the vacation is even more difficult when everyone wants to do something different. That was until this year.

My husband is an avid fisherman, so there has to be good fishing territory wherever we go. The kids need to have multiple activities available so hey can be kept busy and not just sitting around, driving everyone crazy fighting ( I bet there is lots of you who can relate there :] ) Myself I like to feel like I am away from the ordinary. Somewhere clean, comfortable and peaceful is always nice too.

This year we choose to stay at Springwood Cottages, just about 40 minutes or so north of Kingston and we were very pleasantly surprised they exceeded all out expectations and needs. They offered so many different activities like water skiing, tubing, boating, fishing, swimming, hiking and a whole bunch more that I just can not think of off the top of my head. I will mention some of them later in my letter.

On our way to Springwood Cottages we stopped along the was to visit some family members, so needless to say by the time we arrived after an 11 hour day with a tons of driving, by the time we arrived we were all exhausted. Despite our late arrival we were greeted by the owner who graciously helped us into our cottage with our belongings.

The cottage was beautiful, very spacious and felt very cozy. one of those places you just feel like you are in something you own yourself. very well maintained and decorated. The kids were excited about each having their own room in the cottage and despite the long day, we had managed to run around staking claim to the one that would be theirs for the duration of our stay.

One good thing about the long day prior, our first morning at Springwood was spectacular. The kids were so tired they slept in till 10am which was good for us, we deserved the extra time in bed.

During the times my husband was out fishing, I found it quite easy to entertain the kids. Aside from the swimming at the beach, play equipment, trails for hiking and ample room to play ball etc...the resort offers a wide range of planned activities. Throughout the week everyone is invited to a cook-out (held at the community gathering cooking area - which is a huge deck with multiple BBQ's and grills) games for kids, water skiing, tubing, boating, hiking trails, nightly beach bomb fires, movie night (shown on a huge big screen) and numerous other activities / entertainment. Needless to say I never heard the dreaded "we are bored there is nothing to do" :). The best part about keeping kids busy is how well they sleep at night and of course less fighting. the best part of them sleeping well at night is having the time to relax and unwind in the hot tub with my husband.

Our stay at Springwood Cottages was made especially nice because of the way we were treated by the owner Cezar and the staff. Helping make our stay comfortable and accommodating, was a big part of the service they provide. Besides being treated with the utmost care and respect, we found the property as a whole very well groomed & maintained.

In closing, I would like to add some of the things that made our stay that much easier. If you are a cottage renter, I am sure you will be able to relate. No need to pack up sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, dishes and other normal necessities needed to stay anywhere. Then on top of all that our cottage was fully equipped with all the home machines we use on a regular basis such as, fridge, stove, microwaves, coffee maker, kettle and even washer and dryer. With many of our previous vacation destinations we had to bring most of these items on our own, the places did not supply them. Well not without a charge fee of some sort anyhow. Talking about hidden fee's that was one thing that we did not have to worry about here, but can I ever tell you horror stories of places that do have hidden fee's and it would make your stomach turn. Sure glad we didn't get hit up for any hidden fee's or stupid extra charges that should be included.

We rent cottages every year and travel quite often to various places. We no longer have to worry about finding a great place to stay each year that we can all enjoy, we found it, Springwood Cottages.

Thank you Cezar and all the staff at Springwood cottages. See you in 2010
